Can Dreams tell us something

Dreams always have a manifest and latent content. The manifest content is what the dream seems to be saying. It is often bizarre and nonsensical. The latent content is what the dream is really trying to say. Dreams give us a look into our unconscious.- Sigmund Freud.
So I sit here and ponder, on what this all means and consider two of the dreams I have had in my life.
Dream Number 1:
Location, Riverside,Kitwe...October 1991
----------------------------------------
It was shortly after the death of Mr. F.M.C Aka my Dad. The Man who had the most admirable physical abilities in my immediate circles. Looked up to him in that sense. He always wore a nicely tailored suit, had piles of shoes and from what I could tell back then, he had the confidence of Scorpio without really being a scorpio himself. Maybe My mother's scorpiobility rubbed off on him.
In his healthier days My dad spent a lot of time taking different electronic products apart and keeping them clean and oiled. There were days we would find him sitting in the garage with the our TV sitting on the bench with 100's of pieces existing independently, Transistors, Integrated Circuits, Diodes, to name but a few. His other passions, Soccer and Gardening. He had a beautiful garden, that flourished in Brussel Sprouts and quite a few stems of Asparagus. Anyway I Digress....
A few days after his death, My siblings; Me Included, not acting collectively would find ourselves gravitating towards the garden and just sitting there for hours on end. It was like the quiet place that everyone wanted to go to. My Mother did not want to see that garden, and she stopped going to the living room too, where Dad had died.
On one of the nights...I had this Dream.
It looked so real and Dad had come back to tell me that he believed I could do it. In the dream, I was in the garden, taking out weeds from his Bell Pepper plants. The only problem here...He did not say what this "IT" was...all I ever recalled after the dream and to this day is that he said "I believe that you can do it"
Dream Number 2:
Location: Memphis, Tennessee, January 2011
-------------------------------------------
I dreamed of my dear Mother. She was dressed in a suit, her hair cut short just like they had done after Dad died, per traditional dictation that a widow's head should be shaved during mourning of her husband...those traditions.
She was talking to me, asking me what my long term goals were. An advocate of life long learning, this was not unlike her to say. I didn't get a chance to answer the question but I awoke and completely forgot what the dream was about.
So Now that I have remembered the second dream, I ask what are:
1. The Manifest Content and 2. The Latent Content
of both dreams.
Why did one dream happen immediately and one years later?
Are the messages from the two dreams somehow related and if so what is the connection?
Or are these dreams simply a manifestation of my own fears of being inadequate and not able to show my parents my accomplishments?
Or is it supernaturally possible that these two people are watching over me, have been and always will; and one told me they believed I could do it and the other one is now coming back to let me know that success is a life long journey?
I am not sure...
but I do know, sans thinking too much, they were both
DREAMS...
