Taking Chances

Amid some crazy things going on, the game of he said, she said and the inability of people to mind their own business, came the hookup of the year.
It started just like any other short conversation, I saw her come online, and as per tradition I decided to say hello. Now on any other day this conversation would have gone something like this
Me: Hi
Her: Hi
Me: How are you doing?
Her: I am doing fine, and yourself?
Me: I am great, anyway I just wanted to say hello, I have a meeting to go to.
On this one December 2009 Day, the conversation lasted longer than usual, even though I actually did have to leave for a work dinner. Our conversation led to a promise of a phone call for when I came back from the Dinner. All I had to do was let her know that I was back in my room and she would call.
To Dinner, I went and Lo and behold when I came back to my hotel room, a few minutes later the phone rang and I was talking to her. This was the beginning of many to come long phone calls.
As the phone calls continued, we started planning to meet up somewhere neutral for both of us and we decided on the big apple.
It was a leap of faith for both of us to step out of our comfort zones and consider long distance love. The fears of "what if she is not feeling this" were there, but for some reason some greater force kept pushing me to go for it. I came to the realization that if I had let her go, I would not be able to forgive myself.
It really was a sign, that for so many years, we kept in touch with each other even though our chats would last less than a minute. I am grateful for the fact that we checked up on each other all these years, and when we decided to get together, It was a moment...You know the kind of moment where you want to ask the other person what took them so long? Yeah that was the moment...
Anyway Here is to beginning 2011 with a truly amazing woman on my side!
