What does Christmas mean to you? What does the story of Christmas remind us of?
For me Christmas is not just a celebration or a time to get together with family and exchange gifts. Non Christians want to argue and say this day is not about Christ and therefore should not be called Christmas.....
Be that as it may, Christmas is really about HOPE. The hope that everything is going to be alright. If you go back to the Bible, You will realize that for thousands of years, God's people had been waiting for their Messiah. It had been promised to them, and written that this Messiah would one day show up on Earth, and so they hoped.
Every day they hoped, and waited for him to come.
The day we now call Christmas, may not be the actual day that this hope was fulfilled, but it is symbolic of it.
So as I sit back and reflect this Christmas, I do realize that even for me, and You, that it is all about hope. The hope we all have that perhaps this year will be different, different and better, and never worse. We get carried away and think that because we have received X number of presents that it is definitely better but that is really not the case.
What we should be focusing on, is the hope that we all become better people with the passing of time.
I am not saying we change on Christmas day but like the birth of Jesus Christ, perhaps this day can be used as a day of transforming oneself into a better human, a rebirth so to speak.
I stop here before I start preaching to the choir.
