Names of the world

Man #1: Hey how are you doing? What's your name?

Man # 2: I am fine. My name is Tracy.

Man# 1: hmmm isn't Tracy a girl's name?

—————now my analysis —————

Not only is this a rude gesture on Man# 1's part, but an obvious display of ignorance and the lack of appreciation for variety. Just because you have been limitedly exposed to a small portion of mainstream society doesn't mean you are the authority on everything. You may only know female Tracys based on how many people outside your family you have interacted with, but trust me if you stepped out of your rubber box you might meet more people that you are not related to and realize there is actually more to a name than just gender.

Just like most CEOs are Men, would it be ok for me to say to a woman I just met who happens to be a CEO, that "hmmm CEO, that's a Man's job isn't it?"

Obviously this hits very close to home for me because I have one of those names...,but seriously what do people expect you to do after they ask the question about your name being a girl' s name? What if you said "yes it is?" What solution are they going to offer?

I think that, unless you have mastered all the possible combinations of names of all cultures, you should not make yourself that comfortable to proclaim gender of any name.
