And so It came to pass as it had been written that I would end up going to the U.S of A to studying Mining Engineering. Enter Rapid City, SD and Location: South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. What a shocker it was, but easily adapted to change, just like most engineers do.
4 Years later I was done with College and ready to face the world. Only problem was, the school had issues with believing I would take care of my Own Work Permit and so they would remove my name from any list of Interviewees that Companies coming to recruit had. Me, and two other classmates of mine from the same Country as I was, were the only ones who walked at graduation without Job Offers in hand. How so depressing.
Couple of Months later, still no Mining Engineering Jobs. I decided to move to Tucson and in a few weeks I was doing some serious Job Hopping. Worked in a call center doing customer service, became a Land Surveyor...and then finally I landed my first geek Job. Welcome to Intuit...
I only got this job at Intuit because I scored high enough to work as one of their software engineers, so my title...Support Engineer. I was working supporting and doing QA work for QuickBooks and TurboTax. That was fun. Then I was, from I don't know what, contacted by Gateway Computers and they offered me a job provided I became A+ certified and MCP within a few months of being hired. I did take the job. Moved to Sioux Falls, SD and continued expanding my mind with geeky know-how.
I am not trying to write my resume here...but some other personal things happned during this period also. Rewinding...while in College, I had decided to get married....peer pressure is something, actually it wasn't peer pressure, it was more like everyone pressure. Anyway at the time I was moving to sioux falls, the marriage was on the rocks and was ending...
Moving on...
skip this and skip that...
Found myself working for clear channel in 2003. I was stationed in Ogallala Nebraska, a place where everyone knows your name. I travelled quite a bit and got to meet a few famous people whose names I will not mention here, Its a tough world You know, I might be asked to pay something just for mentioning someone on my blog. So we leave it at that, I have met a few famous people. Oh but I will say that I did party with the band Lonestar....hahaha.
Again skipping some more things, my life was getting transformed emotionally and academically. I decided to get my Masters Degree...choice was between MBA and M.Sc well seeing that I love computers and hacking and everything about security, note (computer security) and not (security guard). I Took up M.Sc in Management, with emphasis on IT Security.
Got Offered a job as an Identity Management specialist at a certain Electronics Company...Just loved that job, then it got busy, then I became the go-to guy, and then I did not sleep.
Time for a change...decided to take a job offer as a consultant and moved to Atlanta. Ha....the company that hired me was just a soul whose intentions were good, but the actions were misunderstood by the executioners...Ok people stay with me. I promise I am not trying to confuse you by putting in some Nina Simone...but hey....It was a bad experience and I learned a lot.
And now....
I am working as Senior Consultant with a company that specializes in Identity Management. I feel it is important for me to define what Identity Management means so here I go...
"Identity Management is an area of Information Systems Security that deals with identifying individuals in a system or corporate network and controlling the access to the resources in that system by placing restrictions on the established identities."
At this point I feel confortable enough that everyone now has a better picture of who I am and what I do. The rest of my life is personal.
P.S A Picture is Really worth a '1000' Words!
